Explore Iowa history and Iowa stories with one of our state’s most prolific researchers and writers. Linda has traveled and spoken to hundreds of individuals and groups about the history and narrative of Iowa… what is still here to photograph and research, as well as what has been lost to time. Join her in the journey, enjoy the stories, and learn about pieces of Iowa history you never knew existed!

Linda McCann is returning to the HJ Nugen Public Library to present a new program. With this visit, she will be discussing how prohibition affected Iowans during the depression. Linda has written several books about surrounding counties, the Conservation Corp and The Cedar Valley Road (Trolley). You can find two of her books in the library's collection: “Lost Linn County: Vanished Towns of the Cedar Valley,” and “Prohibition in Eastern Iowa.”

Linda will also have books available for sale the evening of her presentation and the library will be adding her recently published book on the Conservation Corps to our collection.

This program is free and open to the public. No registration is required. Students (grade 7 & up) may also find this program interesting.
