National Library Week 2018

Libraries Lead! Celebrated April 8th - April 14th

National Library Week was (April 8-14th) for the HJ Nugen Public Library. During the week they had something special each day. On Monday there was a Family Craft Night where we made poetry books, pixel art, and colored with families. On Tuesday, patrons who checked materials out got some FREE Popcorn! Wednesday’s After School Program was everyone’s favorite “LEGOS Challenge”. Thursday the lucky people who came in got FREE cookies, made special by your favorite librarians. Friday we had our first After Hours Teen Game Night, that had a GREAT turnout! We offered the teens pizza, snacks, drinks, and fun with Mario Kart on the Wii, board games, computer games, and ended the night with a scary movie (PG-13) in honor of Friday the 13th. Lastly on Saturday, we offered FREE DVD check outs. Also, over the week we had patrons who came in put in a guess for how many books we have in our collection, the patron with the closest guess won a gift certificate to Casey’s Pizza! We had a guess as low as just 315 books and as high as 306,000. Our third place guess was only 654 books off from the total, and second place was only 542 books off, but our winner, Stephanie Nelson, was 494 books off from the real total with her guess of 13,948. Our collection has a total of 13,454 books in it! Congratulations Stephanie!
